What is a deep cycle battery?

Deep cycle battery usually has a thick lead plate. It is heavy. This plate makes the battery to stand deep charging. It cannot dispense charge rapidly compared to starter battery. It can also be use to initiate combustion in engines. It is a kind of battery with a longer life span because of its thick plates.
